How Biomas PROTECT increases the immunity of plants to disease

Bacillus and Paenibacillus spp. microorganisms are characterised by antifungal activity. Bacteria rapidly position themselves in the rhizosphere and secrete a variety of compounds, including cell wall-degrading enzymes (chitinases, glucanases and proteases), peptides and pathogen-inhibiting volatile organic compounds.

The three types of bacteria in PROTECT have an inhibitory effect, helping plants to protect themselves against pathogens. By rapidly dividing, bacteria colonise the root zone and can enter the plant as endophytes, allowing them to live in the plant and perform a protective function without causing adverse effects. Bacteria secrete siderophores, thus making iron available to the plant while pathogens start to lack them, inhibiting their growth. 

Depending on the living environment and conditions, bacteria also produce biofilms. With the help of such biofilms, bacteria can improve access to nutrients and oxygen, reducing the effects of biological, chemical and physical damage. Microorganisms established on plant roots that form biofilms act as biological inhibitors of pathogenic microorganisms by occupying the site of entrapment of pathogenic bacteria in the rhizosphere.

 

PROTECT is characterised by the inhibition of disease-causing fungus and is used to prevent diseases in soils. It excretes substances that stimulate plant genes responsible for the natural immune system, improving the plant’s resistance to abiotic factors, such as drought, the cold and heat.

Feedback from farmers

I had previously heard a lot about the benefits of microorganisms, but the preparations offered on the market at the time did not convince me of their quality. After I noticed positive results from using BIOMAS products for the first time to spray fields, I decided to continue using them not only for spraying, but also for seed treatment. In farm technology, I use several combinations of Grow and Protect products. These preparations have helped me to achieve higher yields and strengthen the plants before winter.

We constantly carry out precision field trials to confirm the effectiveness of the products manufactured by Bioversio for different types of agricultural crops. We use Bioversio microorganisms at our cooperative and perform field trials with them. We noticed that the plants developed better using these, noting an increase when weighing the yield from experimental plots.
